High School Journalism Institute
A collaboration between Oregon State University, The Oregonian/OregonLive and Oregon media organizations.
About the Institute
The High School Journalism Institute is a unique opportunity for students to get hands-on experience in journalism. Over nearly three decades, it has helped inspire hundreds of aspiring young journalists.
With guidance from professional mentors, participants use real journalism skills to report and photograph a 36-page newspaper, as well as blog and produce multimedia pieces.
The institute is a collaboration between Oregon State University, Oregonian Media Group and other Oregon media organizations. It is free to attend thanks to generous philanthropic and community support.
The 2025 institute was held July 12-19 at the Oregon State University campus in Corvallis.
